Memo to the Mayor and City Council/LU 00-5
July 20, 2000
Page 3

Planning Commission Action

The Planning Commission conducted a public hearing regarding the request at its June
27, 2000 meeting. Mr. Holzem, the property owner, stated that he was interested in
selling the property prior to having the assessments assigned to the property. No one
spoke for or against the request.

The Planning Commission voted 6-1 to recommend approval of the request to the City
Council. Chair Mesich voted against the request, citing the adverse impact to public
services and the school district additional residential development would have.

Recommendation

The request to extend services to this parcel prior to 2007 is not inconsistent with the
overall Urban Service District plan. The developer is also willing to bear the cost of the
improvements. Staff recommends that the City Council approve the applicant's request
to amend the date of the Urban Service District Map from 2007 to 2001 for only the
subject parcel.
