Since our original proposal, we have received feedback from Auburn residents
indicating that speed bumps may not be the answer. The biggest concern is
snow removal in the winter. Our street superintendent is not sure what bumps
will do to hinder snow removal, but he is certain there might be some ice and
snow buildup near the bumps. The second concern is where exactly do we place
the bumps. Some residents would prefer the bumps not be in front of their
residences. Others have expressed concerns that speed bumps are not the
answer at ail.

We were concerned about your calls and had hoped that the combination of stop
signs and speed bumps would make your neighborhood a safer place to live. We
do believe however in doing this in a democratic way and don't want to see a
solution forced upon you creating bad feelings.

What we would ask is that you complete the enclosed survey and return it as
soon as possible using the enclosed postage paid envelope. Using the results of
the neighborhood survey, we will advise staff what the majority of you would like
to see happen and implement that plan.

Please contact me if you have questions or comments about this project. We
look forward to hearing from you and appreciate you taking the time to consider
our request.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey A, Beahen
Assistant Chief of Police
