TO: <br /> <br />FROI~I: <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />S U BJ ECT: <br /> <br />Mayor and City Council <br /> <br />Joan Schmidt, City Clerk <br /> <br />June 14, 2004 <br /> <br />Filing Dates <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />INFORMATION <br /> <br />As you are aware, the following terms of office will expire on December 31, 2004. <br /> <br />· Councilmember from Ward 2 <br />· Councilmember from Ward 3 <br /> <br />The fflmg time span is from 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 6, 2004, until 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, July <br />20, 2004, for an election to be held on the 2nd day of November 2004. <br /> <br />I will need a completed affidavit of candidacy accompanied by a $5.00 filing fee or in place <br />of the filing fee, the candidate may present a petition at the time of filing an affidavit of <br />candidacy. This petition may be signed by any individual eligible to vote for the candidate. <br />The number of signatures required is the lesser of 500 signatures or 5% of the total number <br />of votes cast in the municipality, ward, or other election district at the preceding general <br />election at which that office was on the ballot. <br /> <br />A candidate who will be absent from the state during the filing period may submit a properly <br />executed affidavit of candidacy, the appropriate filing fee, and any necessary petitions in <br />person to the City Clerk during the seven days immediately preceding the candidate's <br />absence from the state. <br /> <br />A candidate may withdraw from the election by fding an affidavit of withdrawal no later than <br />5 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2004. <br /> <br />A legal publication of this information will be in the Star News on June 16, 2004. <br /> <br />Please call me with any questions.
