certification, Energy City, and the operating costs saved by upfront building
improvements. Sagstetter also recommended the tour sites have signage.
Steinbeck suggested an interpretive sign downtown to explain Energy City. Sagstetter
recommended the Cinema building in collaboration with their proposed solar energy
project.
Flatland noted that signs should be written so that they won't need to be changed
frequently.
Westgaard suggested talking with Communications Department about the city
wayfinding signs to see if we could add the Energy City logo or directional signs.
Mroz will continue to work on wording and locations for the signs. Commissioners
will provide additional thoughts.
5.3 Meeting Frequency
Mroz stated that with the Action Plan complete, commission projects have slowed
and most work necessary requires staff time only. Therefore, Mroz suggested
quarterly or bi-monthly meetings which would require an ordinance amendment.
Westgaard suggested changing the ordinance to "meet at a minimum each quarter"
and provide monthly updates from staff to commissioners via email. Special
meetings will be scheduled as necessary and subcommittees could meet as needed.
A motion to recommend to City Council that Energy City commission meetings be
changed from once a month to a minimum of quarterly was provided by Westgaard
and seconded by Sayler. All in favor, 0 opposed.
6. Next Meeting Agenda Items (August 19, 20 15)
6.1 CNG Vehicles Presentation (TBD)
Randy's Sanitation, Ace Waste Connection, or Waste Management
6.2 GRE presentation on Solar Research (FBD)
7. Announcements
7.1 Commissioner Updates
Sayler stated that the Connexus Electric Vehicle test drive will be on September 12
from 11:31) to 2:30 in conjunction with the Ramsey Happy Days Festival. Cars will
be available to test drive and the Connexus recharge stations will provide
demonstrations.
7.2 Staff Updates
Mroz gave an update of the High .5 program. The Current newsletter went out this
week and two interested households have already called to ask for more information.
