<br />A.Assists with park maintenance division employee selection process and hires seasonal <br />staff. <br /> <br />B.Delegates workload and assigns division projects and tasks. <br /> <br />C.Performs timely annual performance reviews of all employees supervised. <br /> <br />D.Develops and manages employee performance and implements improvement plans <br />as needed. <br /> <br />E.Manages the park volunteer program. <br /> <br /> <br />4.Performs other essential job duties. <br /> <br />A.Regular and timely work attendance. <br /> <br />B.Follows all safety procedures. <br /> <br />C.Participates in safety training. <br /> <br />Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities <br />Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques in the construction, maintenance, and <br /> <br /> <br />repair of parks, playfields, trails, beaches, and grounds. <br />Knowledge of turf maintenance, horticulture, and forestry. <br /> <br /> <br />Skill to effectively communicate orally and in writing. <br /> <br /> <br />Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods, and to perform strenuous <br /> <br /> <br />physical labor under adverse environmental conditions. <br />Ability to operate heavy and light motorized park maintenance equipment. <br /> <br /> <br />Ability to perform light mechanical repair and welding. <br /> <br /> <br />Ability to effectively supervise, direct, and motivate employees. <br /> <br /> <br />Ability to delegate work to subordinates. <br /> <br /> <br />Ability to lift 50 pounds. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Minimum Qualifications <br />Two-year degree in park management, landscape construction and design, natural resources, <br /> <br /> <br />or related field. <br />Five years of experience in park or grounds maintenance including operating heavy and light <br /> <br /> <br />equipment. <br />Three years of supervisory experience. <br /> <br /> <br />Herbicide applicator’s license or ability to obtain within 6 months. <br /> <br /> <br />Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) certification or ability to obtain within 2 years. <br /> <br /> <br />Demonstrated project management experience. <br /> <br /> <br />Demonstrated employee management and development experience. <br /> <br /> <br />Valid driver’s license and good driving record. <br /> <br /> <br />Class B Commercial Driver’s License or ability to obtain within 6 months. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Preferred Qualifications <br />Experience in horticulture, arboriculture or landscape architecture. <br /> <br /> <br />Horticulture, arboriculture, or forestry degree or certification. <br /> <br /> <br />Four year degree in related field. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />This Position Description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
