I Ieritage Preservation Commission Meeting <br /> Elk River City Hall <br /> July 16,2015 <br /> Mr. Carlton stated that although Commissioner Mortensen was not in attendance, <br /> she is interested in continuing her role as Vice-Chair. <br /> Mr. Carlton nominated Commissioner Mortenson for the Vice-Chair position. <br /> Motion by Commissioner Lindberg and seconded by Commissioner Nicholas <br /> to elect Debra Mortensen to serve as Heritage Preservation Commission Vice- <br /> Chair. Motion carried 4-0. <br /> 7. General Business <br /> 7.1 Water Tower Subcommittee Update <br /> Chair Fox provided an update from the Save the Water Tower Subcommittee. The <br /> subcommittee is working with the Oliver Hudson Kelly Grange (a subset of the <br /> Kelly Farm) to establish a 501 (c)(3) to accept donations. <br /> Chair Fox is also working to create a logo/brand for use by the subcommittee's <br /> fundraising efforts and social media platforms. A local volunteer will be moderating <br /> the social media accounts. <br /> A review of the Heritage Preservation's effort to restore the tower was provided to <br /> update the new members. <br /> 7.2 Review Rough Draft If Jackson Street Water Tower Condition <br /> Assessment <br /> Mr. Carlton asked for any comments about the rough draft of the Condition <br /> Assessment for the Jackson Street Water Tower, and noted that the cost estimates <br /> were not included with this phase. He stated that he will accept comments through <br /> the end of the month. <br /> Commissioner Jones asked how the restoration efforts were being financed. Mr. <br /> Carlton provided a brief review of the grant and donation money that has been <br /> received thus far. He also noted that future restoration efforts will likely require <br /> additional grants. <br /> Commissioner Jones expressed concern for the costs associated with the long-term <br /> maintenance of the structure and associated property. Mr. Carlton noted that the <br /> long term maintenance is still a concern that must be reviewed. <br /> 7.3 Review Proposal for solar panel array on the Cinema <br /> Professional Building <br /> Mr. Carlton provided the Commission with an overview of the proposal to add solar <br /> panels to the roof of the building located at 657 Main Street. <br />
