Michele Bergh
Staff Report
May 2000

Summer Registration
Registration is going very well. We have taken in 725 registrations since the brochure was delivered
April 26th through May 6th. 620 of those occurred at our office, 35 were from the registration at Rogers
Junior High on May 4th and 70 were from the big registration on May 6th with CE and ECFE.

Staff
Darci is doing well. There is a lot to learn and it will take some time. Ben, our key summer staff
person will be back to work in two weeks. He will be doing a lot of the organizing for summer and I
will have him work closely with Darci to train her on what needs to be done when we run a program. I
am just starting to put together the staffing picture for summer and don't think I will need to hire very
many new staff as we have many returning staff members.

Intern for Summer
Our intern will start the beginning of June and will be working primarily with the Adopt-A-Park
program. She will be working 30 hours a week for 10 weeks. She will also be working some of the
other programs we have set up.

Youth Associations
We have finally completed the master schedule for field usage. This was a bigger project this summer
than normal (although it is always a big project) due to several scheduling errors on the part of
Mississippi Baseball; one of the groups Youth Baseball is affiliated with. There were several games that
were scheduled on the same fields as another game and the game schedule was very heavy in May and
empty in June. This took a lot of time coordinating and had to be redone several times as they switched
games around. We now have most of the practices scheduled for the season and the master schedules
have been distributed to those who need it. The remaining calls will be from coaches wanting to
reschedule or add to their practice schedule.

Emporium
Continues to be busy, especially the concerts. We are getting many requests to add concerts throughout
the summer and are trying to hold them off, as I don't believe it will be easy to get staff on the
weekends. I'm trying to stick to Fridays and this is becoming difficult. One possibility is weekday
shows during the summer where it's one or two bands and a lower key so we don't need so many staff
people to work them. We are also trying to get the word out that Emporium is open during the summer
an we're trying to come up with some activities that students can do anytime they want to come in here.
