•
Downtown Project Comment Sheet
Comments made by Karen Hagstrom in a phone conversation with Heidi Hall, Economic
Development Assistant, on Feb. 20, 2002.
• Ms. Hagstrom has been an Elk River resident for seven years
• She has noticed that the city is becoming more and more crowded
• She suggested that the HRA take a field trip to Stillwater, MN, to get an idea of what a "good"
downtown looks like
• She would like to see an affordable restaurant that utilizes the river (suggestions were a
Grandma's or a Champps). She would also like to see a malt shop (something like Darla's in
Stillwater)
• She would like to see a boardwalk with parks, benches, and a sign that says something like
"please clean up after your dogs". She also thinks it's a good idea to provide plastic bags near the
sign (maybe charge $0.25 for a bag) so that people will be more apt to pick up after their dogs.
• She would like to see houses moved closer to downtown
• She suggests that summer activities, such as milk carton boat races, be incorporated into the
utilization of the river
S
•
