Economic Development Authority Minutes <br />May 18, 2015 <br />Page 3 <br />The EDA discussed only sending the surveys to businesses that have worked with <br />the city in some capacity. They also discussed how far back to go to send the survey <br />out. Consensus was to send the survey to all businesses who have worked with the <br />city in the last 10 years. Ms. Othoudt added she would like to include an option to <br />rate other departments within the city. Commissioner DXvyer noted business <br />interaction with any department in the city is important to be aware of <br />Ms. Othoudt reviewed the points to consider as outlined in her handout. <br />She indicated she would like to rely more on state and federal financing programs <br />and less on tax abatement. She explained it can be as simple as being aware of <br />offered programs and putting businesses in touch with those organizations. <br />Commissioner Dwyer mentioned he discussed with Mr. Barnhart before he left <br />interest in obtaining information on what financial packages neighboring cities are <br />offering. The commission requested tax analysis on neighboring cities. Ms. Othoudt <br />indicated she has that information and will provide it to the commission. <br />7.
