City of <br /> Elk -�-� <br /> River <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> TO: Heidi Steinmetz <br /> FROM: Scott Harlicker, Senior Planne <br /> DATE: September 28, 2004 <br /> SUBJECT: Residential Building Conditions North Downtown <br /> On September 13th Dave Hetrick of the Building Department and I conducted building <br /> evaluation inspection on the single family residences and several older commercial buildings <br /> in the north downtown study area.These evaluations were based on the exterior on the <br /> • building and Dave's personal knowledge of the structure. To some extend the building's <br /> evaluation was based on how we rated other buildings. We evaluated 108 buildings. Of those <br /> evaluated, 62 (57%)were considered"good" condition, 34 (31%) were considered"fair" <br /> condition and 12 (11%) were considered in "poor" condition. <br /> There were 12 buildings that were considered"poor" condition; 8 of them were constructed <br /> prior to 1930 and 6 of them were constructed prior to 1920. There were 34 buildings <br /> considered"fair" condition; 19 of them were located along Jackson or Irving Avenues. <br /> • <br />
