Students will explore downtown with a partner <br /> and respond to some questions. A question sheet will <br /> be distributed. <br /> 1:45 Guided tour of downtown led by Heidi Hall (2001) and <br /> Cathy Mehelich (1995), graduates of SCSU's Community <br /> Development Program who both work for the City Of Elk <br /> River's Department of Economic Development. Questions for <br /> Heidi and Cathy are strongly encouraged <br /> 3:15 Panel discussion with Cathy Mehelich and Heidi Hall (Elk <br /> River Economic Development), Wendy Simenson (President, <br /> River's Edge Downtown Association), Kurt Kragness (Chair, <br /> • Elk River Heritage Preservation Comm.), and Vern Hanson <br /> (Developer for revitalization project). Students will have the <br /> opportunity and are strongly encouraged to share their <br /> observations and suggestions with the panel. <br /> 4:45 Departure <br /> 5:45 Arrive back on campus <br /> Miscellaneous <br /> • Wear comfortable walking shoes <br /> • Feel free to bring a lunch for the bus ride down <br /> • Please refrain from wearing jeans, baseball caps, sweatshirts, t-shirts, etc. - <br /> students do not need to "dress up", but let's try to look serious about what <br /> we are studying (you are representing the CD program!) <br /> • Wear a watch so you do not become sidetracked from the agenda <br /> • Watch the weather forecast and dress appropriately (jacket, umbrella) <br /> • I encourage you to ask questions and make comments at any time during <br /> the fieldtrip, especially on guided tour and at panel session.
