Reduce on-going maintenance costs over time. <br />• Replace outdated park equipment and materials with high-efficiency models <br />and high-quality, low-maintenance materials. <br />• Use the latest technologies to improve efficiencies and reduce costs. <br />• Have a plan. <br />4. Ensure the cleanliness of parks and park facilities. <br />Strategies: <br />• Regular garbage collection. <br />• Cleaning of activity buildings, picnic shelters, and restrooms. <br />• Removal of graffiti and repair of vandalism as required. <br />• Response to all emergency problems. <br />• More seasonal and/or part time temporary staff throughout the year. <br />5. Support volunteers. <br />Strategies: <br />• Designate volunteers allowed to use city equipment. <br />• Train volunteers to use city equipment. <br />• Provide equipment, tools, and materials needed for volunteer use. <br />• Develop a program oriented towards engaging youth volunteers. <br />• Partner with other community organizations for volunteer events (such as <br />planting, clean up, invasive species removal, natural resource assessment) to <br />raise awareness and recruit new park volunteers.
