Chapter 3: The System Today 16 <br />T <br />O <br />D <br />A <br />Y <br />Community Input <br />Community input has been an essential component of this planning process <br />in order to ensure that future park system investment is relevant to the needs <br />and desires expressed by Elk River residents. Community input was collected <br />to identify community satisfaction with the park system, the level of park and <br />recreation use, opinions on the system’s needs, issues, and priorities, and desires <br />for future system development. Input about non-city park and recreation <br />resources available to the community was also included in the analysis. Outreach <br />methods used to collect this data included: <br />• Focus Group session with other partners and stakeholders (March 27, 2014) <br />• The 2014 Parks and Recreation Survey (Spring 2014) <br />• Online community questionnaire (Summer 2014) <br />• Community Open House to collect input (June 25, 2014) <br />• Community Open House to affirm community input (August 20, 2014) <br />Residents and other stakeholders who participated in the planning process <br />provided essential information that will help define Elk River’s future parks and <br />recreation system.
