Commissioner Cote arrived at 6:38 p.m. Commissioner Kuester arrived at 6:40 p.m. Members Absent: None Staff Present: Steven B. Ach, City Planner; Scott Harlicker, Assistant Planner; Debbie Kleckner, Recording Secretary 1. Call Meeting To Order Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River Board of Adjustments was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Anderson. 2. Consider 10/28/97 Board of Adjustments Agenda COMMISSIONER MINTON MOVED TO APPROVE THE OCTOBER 28, 1997 BOARD OF • ADJUSTMENTS AGENDA. COMMISSIONER SULLIVAN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. 3. Consider 9/30/97 Bard of Adjustments.Minutes COMMISSIONER THOMPSON MOVED TO APPROVE THE SEPTEMBER 30, 1997, BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS MINUTES AS AMENDED. COMMISSIONER SULLIVAN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0-1. Commissioner Mesich abstained. 4.1. David Tollefson Request for Variance Public Hearing Case No.V 97-16:, Staff report by Scott Harlicker. David Tollefson, 17713 Cleveland Street, is requesting a 15 foot variance to the required 20 foot side yard setback in order to construct a 24'x27' detached garage. Staff recommends denial of the variance based on the findings in the staff report. Chair Anderson opened the public hearing. David Tollefson, 17713 Cleveland Street, applicant, explained his reasons for the request. He presented pictures of the property indicating the location of the proposed building. He stated he approached his neighbor to purchase additional property but was not able to meet their price. The proposed building will be used for storage of a boat and other personal property. There being no comments from the public, Chair Anderson closed the public • hearing.
