Marx will"tackle the affordable housing challenge <br /> facing this state with creativity and compassion"the Governor said."Owning a home is <br /> 411 part of the American dream,"said Pawlenty."But for society as a whole,good citizenship <br /> starts with a good,stable home life." <br /> The Minnesota Housing Finance Agency's core mission is meeting Minnesotans'needs <br /> for decent,safe affordable housing and stronger communities. It achieves this by <br /> focusing on development and redevelopment programs, homeownership loan programs <br /> and the preservation of federally assisted housing among other things.MHFA has nearly <br /> 200 employees and a biennial budget from the General Fund totaling$69.5 million <br /> dollars. <br /> Pawlenty praised Marx experience as an attorney with an extensive background in <br /> housing issues. He is a former legislative counsel to state-wide housing,community <br /> development and public finance organizations.Marx also developed and implemented <br /> St.Paul's housing and development agenda. He has also provided legal advice and <br /> strategic consultation to foundations,nonprofit organizations,and business interests on <br /> housing and community development issues.As the Deputy Mayor of St. Paul, Marx led <br /> the way in consolidating departments and functions.
