This position will be responsible for the inspection and <br />licensing of apartments, responding to nuisance complaints, complaints regarding rental <br />single-family dwellings, and help out with regular building inspections. <br /> <br />Staff is recommending the city hire Teresa Tousignant for the position of <br />Building/Housing Inspector. With the diversity of responsibilities that this position will <br />be dealing with, the city is very lucky to have found a candidate whose current position <br />involves them all. Ms. Tousignant is currently employed by the City of Hopkins as a <br />Building/Housing/Fire Inspector. Nuisance code compliance is also amongst her duties <br />with Hopkins. <br /> <br />Ms. Tousignant's other qualifications for the position in Elk River include: 17 years in <br />the construction trade as a dry wall taper, State of Minnesota Limited Building Inspector <br />Certification, Pending Housing Inspector Certification, and an Assoc. Applied Science <br />Degree in Building Inspection Technology. She also did a two year internship as a <br />building inspector for the City of Champlin. <br /> <br />Staff recommends Ms. Tousignant be hired under the following conditions: <br /> Starting wage of $19.55/hour <br /> Starting date May 8, 2000 <br /> · Completion of orientation period December 8, 2000 <br /> · Upon successful completion of the orientation period, she will be increased to <br /> a paygrade 13, step "D"($20.55) <br /> · Normal cost of living increase in January 2001 <br /> · Next step increase July of 2001. <br /> <br />13065 Orono Parkway · P.O.
