Board of Appeal and Equalization Minutes Page 2
April 13, 2015
2. Denis Dahl, Parcel Identification Number 75- 681 -0310
Mr. Dahl indicated he disagrees with the increase of his home's market value to
$318,000. He stated the market value for taxes payable in 2015 is $287,000 and
requested his value remain at that amount for taxes payable in 2016. He noted he
emailed Ms. Botzek comparable sales reflecting values well under $300,000. Ms.
Botzek distributed a copy of the comparable sales Mr. Dahl provided.
Ms. Botzek explained during a reassessment of Mr. Dahl's neighborhood,
corrections to square footage and other home details were made increasing the
home's value. In addition, she stated that the entire neighborhood received the
standard increase for Elk River. Ms. Botzek recommended no change.
Ms. Botzek added neighborhoods, including Mr. Dahl's, hit hard with foreclosures
back when the economy was bad a few years ago, were given a 10% reduction. She
explained this reduction stayed intact for a number of years and was recently
removed when the neighborhood began showing comparable sales to other areas.
Moved by Mayor Dietz and seconded by Councilmember Wagner to make no
change to parcel 75- 681 -0310. Motion carried 4 -0.
3.
