A quick review of this memo will quite clearly show that the proposal to increase Elk River Park Dedication Fees from $200.00 per living unit to $300.00 per living unit is appropriate when taking into consideration Park Dedication Fees in neighboring communities. 7 . UPDATE ON PARK AND RECREATION DEPARTMENTS FINANCIAL STATUS Either Lori Johnson, Finance Director, will be attending this meeting to answer financial related questions from the Recreation Board, or else she will provide me with a memo and some charts to distribute to the Board members. Either way, I hope to be able to answer some of the questions relating to city finances and park and recreation activities. 10.2 NOVEMBER RECREATION MEETING For the next Recreation Board meeting scheduled for November 1 , 1988, I have contacted Brooklyn Park 's Park and Recreation Director, Dennis Palm, to attend this meeting. As a convenience to Mr. Palm, I would like to hold this meeting at 6: 00 p.m. , on November 1, 1988. I asked Dennis to come to this meeting to help explain how the Brooklyn Park Park and Recreation department has developed over the years. Dennis has worked for Brooklyn Park since it was 10,000 population and it is currently approaching 50 ,000 population. Dennis also started his career working in the recreation area for school districts. I will be having a pre-meeting with Dennis to help explain our situation so that he can come into this meeting with some background on Elk River. Dennis should be able to provide us with some insight on how to develop a comprehensive park and recreation program, the role of a city park and recreation employee and his experience on how school districts and cities interact in the recreation areas. akh •
