Also attached for your information is the draft 2/7/89 Recreation Board minutes, and a letter from the Burlington Northern Railroad regarding the sale of its abandoned right-of-way in Elk River. In addition to the items listed on the agenda provided by Mr. Anderson, the Recreation Board may also want to include Open Mike on the agenda; plus a discussion on the abandoned railroad right- of-way under Other Business. The discussion on the right-of-way may center on development of the trail, appropriate uses of the trail , and a "Rails to Trails" grant from the Federal Government . Additionally, the draft 2/7/89 Recreation Board minutes indicates that the possibility of a Recreation Board Task Force to discuss the concept of an Elk River Athletic Association would be discussed at this 3/1/89 meeting. Also, as discussed on 2/7 and related to agenda item #4 is the possibility of a • 1989 LAWCON Grant for the development of Woodland Trails Park or the purchase of additional property for park land. Finally, also related to agenda item #4 is the concept of hiring a consultant to develop a parks and recreation master plan. If you have any questions regarding the upcoming 3/1/89 Recreation Board meeting that will be held on Wednesday, at 7: 00 p.m. at the Elk River City Hall Conference room, please feel free to contact me.
