Northstar Corridor Development Authority <br /> <br />Resolution <br />2000 - <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) Commuter Rail <br />System Plan ranks corridors for priority for implementation for commuter rail, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council Regional Master Plan, Transit 2020, proposes <br />commuter rail to be built by 2010 in the Northstar, Central and Red Rock Corridors; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Northstar Corridor Development Authority (NCDA) has completed a <br />Federal Major Investment Study and a Preliminary Draft Environmental Impact Statement for <br />the Corridor between the City of Rice and downtown Minneapolis; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Red Rock Corridor and Central Corridor are beginning further commuter <br />rail studies; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Central Corridor is conducting a Federal Transit Study which will <br />analyze commuter rail between downtown St. Paul and downtown Minneapolis that includes <br />connections to the Northstar and Red Rock Corridors; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a potential connection via existing railroad tracks in the vicinity of Harrison <br />Street in Northeast Minneapolis known as Minneapolis Jupction appears to provide an <br />opportunity to create a seamless transit connection between Red Rock - Central - Northstar <br />commuter rail routes; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Minneapolis will need to approve all commuter rail stations <br />located in the city. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Executive Committee of the Northstar <br />and Red Rock Corridors, and the Ramsey County Regional Railroad Authority recommend that <br />the Minneapolis Junction/Harrison Street location appears to be an appropriate location for a <br />passenger transfer station to create a seamless transition between Red Rock - Central - <br />Northstar Commuter Rail Corridors. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Northstar, Red Rock and Central organizations <br />will work with the City of Minneapolis, Mn/DOT and the appropriate metropolitan agencies to <br />determine the viability of the Minneapolis Junction transfer station. <br /> <br /> BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Northstar Corridor Development Authority will <br />organize a joint subcommittee and request one member from the Central Corridor, the Red <br />Rock Corridor, the City of Minneapolis, and Mn/DOT to review and share information regarding <br />the Minneapolis Junction transit station for commuter rail. <br /> <br />Betsy Wergin, Chairperson Date <br /> <br /> <br />
