Heritage Preservation Commission Meeting <br /> Elk River City Hall <br /> April 16,2015 <br /> • <br /> 5.2 Walking Tour Update <br /> Mr. Carlton noted that students from St. Cloud state presented their brochures for <br /> the historic walking tour. He thanked the students for their hard work and applauded <br /> the strong work that was presented.The brochures will be refined and reviewed by <br /> the Commission at a later date. Chair Fox mentioned that the Sherburne Historical <br /> Society should be included in the review of the brochure. <br /> 5.3 Review Jackson Street Water Tower Condition Assessment <br /> RFP Submittals <br /> Mr. Carlton mentioned that Commissioner Mortensen and he reviewed the three <br /> submittals received for the condition assessment project. He noted that there was <br /> one proposal that clearly aligned with the Commissions goals and project scope. The <br /> Commission discussed the submittals and reached a consensus to select <br /> Collaborative Design Group. Chair Fox, Commissioner Mortensen,and Mr. Carlton <br /> will meet with representatives from Collaborative Design Group to discuss the <br /> project and refine the scope. <br /> Moved by Commissioner Mortensen and seconded by Commissioner <br /> Lindberg to select Collaborative Design Group as the consultant to prepare <br /> the Jackson Street Water Tower Condition Assessment. Motion carried 3-0. • <br /> 6. Staff Updates <br /> 6.1 Certified Local Government Grants <br /> Mr. Carlton noted that Minnesota Historical Society is seeking proposals for grant <br /> opportunities. He mentioned that the city can apply for the grants and asked for <br /> ideas that may be eligible. <br /> Commissioner Mortensen discussed an opportunity to protect the cemeteries in Elk <br /> River. She noted that there has been a lot of vandalism at the cemeteries and <br /> wonders if this would fit within the grant criteria. Mr. Carlton will review the <br /> application materials and evaluate potential opportunities. <br /> • <br />
