I was unable to attend the meeting. <br />I don't know how the criteria for a variance would be met. The existing Farmers Insurance sign (including the <br />changeable copy reader board portion) is already larger than any other single business along the stretch of Main <br />Street between Highways 101 and Gates. In addition to that, they have a wall sign on the building. I know there <br />is some discussion about the corporate headquarters needing the sign to be bigger to be compliant; however, it <br />is routine for companies to be bound by sign size ordinances. And also for a variance to be granted, the problem <br />must not be one of the applicant's doing. The applicant installed the existing sign with the reader board. If he <br />had installed the same sized sign without the reader board, the corporate requirements could be met. <br />Paul <br />
