As aresult, thechief proposes fortheCouncil’s <br />consideration tomakeoneoftheCSOpositions adedicated Crime Prevention Specialist. <br />Policedepartment staffandHumanResources havereviewed Crime PreventionSpecialist position <br />descriptions from othercommunities andhavemodified ourexisting positiontoaccountforthechanges <br />inresponsibility, expectation, andservice level. Theupdated positiondescriptionwouldrequire a pay <br />gradechangeconsistentwithourcompensation plan. <br />FinancialImpact <br />Thefull-timeCSO positionisbudgetedfor2015. Asecond full-timeCSOposition hasbeenvacantsince <br />January. Theoverallpolicepersonnel budgethashadthreevacant policeofficerposition vacanciessince <br />thestartoftheyear as wellas minorunused allocations forcaptain, sergeantanddrugtaskforceofficer. <br />Thepay gradechangeand hireofaCrime Prevention Specialistwillhaveno netimpact totheapproved <br />2015police departmentbudget.
