MEMORANDUM <br /> TO: PARK&RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> FROM: PHIL HALS, STREET/PARK SUPT. <br /> DATE: AUGUST 4, 1994 <br /> SUBJECT: AGENDA MEMO FOR 8/10/94 PARK& <br /> RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING <br /> 5. Update on EDA Site <br /> At their 8/1/94 meeting, the City Council gave approval for Option C on the EDA <br /> site. The City Street/Park department will be doing the construction work as <br /> Forest Lake Contracting delivers the fill dirt. The project should start early in <br /> September with a majority of the work being completed this fall. <br /> • <br /> 7. Lighted Trail Around City Hall <br /> This item has been discussed briefly at two other Park and Recreation Commission <br /> meetings and several questions have come forward: <br /> 1. Should a public hearing be held to involve the area residents who were so <br /> against the exterior lighting at City Hall? <br /> 2.. Should we construct the trail this year, monitor the usage, and, if use <br /> indicates, opt to do the trail lighting in 1995? <br /> 3. Since the cost has increased from an estimated $4,500 to $12,000, would it <br /> be wise to do it in stages or budget the additional funds for 1995? <br /> A footnote to these concerns is that with the City Council approval of the EDA <br /> site improvements, Street/Park department time is going to be limited in the fall of <br /> 1994. <br /> 8. Discussion Possible Athletic Field Complex in Lion's Park <br /> With the forthcoming Jackson Street project, I would suggest that the Park and <br /> Recreation Commission consider using the excess dirt as fill within the park to <br />
