"The success of the commuter rail <br />/ine, as well as the success of the <br />development around the stations <br />/s dependent, to a large extent, on <br />achieving the mixes and densities <br />oroposed in the following tables." <br /> <br />Other amenities may be provided at the station, depending on the needs and <br />opportunities peculiar to the site including telephones, drinking fountains, rest <br />rooms and retail and service business outlets. <br /> <br />Parking facilities will be designed with 15% excess capacity to reduce the time <br />needed to find an open space and to allow for spaces lost to improper parking and <br />incomplete snow removal. <br /> <br />· All parking and access features will be designed to facilitate use of the station by <br /> pedestrians and cyclists and to minimize conflict with nearby residents. <br /> <br />· Opportunities to share parking with adjacent property owners should be explored. <br /> <br />With respect to the planning and design of the areas surrounding commuter rail stations, <br />recommendations are in two categories: land use mix and development density. The <br />tables with proposed guidelines are repeated here. It is important to note that the <br />guidelines are not rigid requirements.
