This public hearing will be from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in tile <br />auditorium ofA.ncka-Hermepin Tecknical College. <br /> <br /> The board is holding this hearing to det¢~-a-~ine whether or not AHTC should remain open <br />at its current sit~ or if the college should close and move its programs to Hermcpin Technical <br />College in Brooklyn Park and/or Anoka-Ramsey Commumty College, as recommended by <br />Morris Anderson, chancellor of the Mn$CU system. The board will comider testimony and make <br />their deciston at the January 19 board rn~ting. In thc event that the board votes to close thc <br />college, students who enroll at Al.ITC would have until Jo. nc 30, 2002 to cornplet¢ their programs <br />at the Anoka site. <br /> <br /> Al-ITC has had an enrollment increase for the third straight year and the College <br />~ustomiz¢cl lraining is one of the largest in the state. In addition, about 650 high school stuclcn~ <br />attend AHTC annually for training in the skilled trades. Al-ITC offers AAS degrees, certificate <br />and diplomas in programs such as machinist, consmicdon electrician, surgical technolog3,, <br />dispensing optician, golfcours~ ground management, physical therapist assistant, occupational <br />therapy assistant, information technology, and 31 more programs. <br /> <br /> Anoka-Hennepin Teehmicel Collepe is an institution of higher education providing <br /> quality technical and general education for employment, work'force development and <br /> lifelortg leamlr~g through partnerships with business, [nctustty and the community. <br /> <br />Minnesota State Colleges and Universities <br /> An equal ocportunity em¢oyer. <br /> <br />TOTAL P. 02 <br /> <br /> <br />
