This year’s project continues <br />the same approach that was approved and followed in 2014. We again are proposing to continue the <br />process of crack filling all streets in the city on an 8-year rotation. This is our primary defense for water <br />penetrating roadway surfaces. <br />We re-evaluated the surface conditions of all of the roadways which were crack-filled in 2014 to <br />determine, of those segments, which ones should be seal coated this year. We are no longer blanket <br />covering all of those segments, but rather seal coating segments that, without treatment, would be subject <br />to excessive premature failure. <br />The attached plan represents the areas proposed to be seal coated this season. For the past two years the <br />crack filling work has been contracted as part of our seal coating project. This year, the crack filling work <br />will be completed with city crews. <br />Upon approval, staff will advertise the project for bidding and bring the lowest responsible bid back to <br />the City Council for consideration and final approval. <br /> <br />Financial Impact <br /> <br />There is no cost associated with the requested action. The budget for 2015 preventative maintenance is <br />$365,199.
