Ach, City Planner e., Z,� - <br /> DATE: September 13, 1995 <br /> SUBJECT: Park Dedication Fees <br /> Request <br /> Consider Resolution 95- , amending the park dedication fees which will be <br /> effective 1/1/96 and 1/1/97. <br /> Background <br /> • In 1992, the Park and Rec Commission recommended to the City Council a <br /> resolution to adjust the park dedication fees on an annual basis by $50 for a <br /> three-year period. The last adjustment setforth in the resolution was made <br /> on 1/1/95 and therefore, if the Park and Rec Commission would like to see an <br /> increase in the park dedication fees on the first of January, 1996, a new <br /> resolution will need to be forwarded to the City Council. <br /> Analysis <br /> As the Park and Rec Commission is well aware, demands are continually <br /> being placed on the development of the park and recreation system. Park <br /> dedication funds are a primary source for both acquiring land and <br /> purchasing recreational equipment for the parks throughout the community. <br /> As residential development continues throughout the community the <br /> demands for recreational development will continue to increase and the <br /> financing of these improvements is an issue the city will have to continuously <br /> contend with. <br /> In an attempt to keep pace with development and necessary park <br /> improvements, the Park and Rec Commission is asked to consider the <br /> attached resolution which would increase the park dedication fees for single <br /> Illfamily and multi-family development by $100 per lot annually, for the next <br /> 13065 Orono Parkway • P.O.
