CE ID :2413521 JUN 05 '97 9 :03 No .005 P .02
w4 14p
•
FundRaising Event
EST. 1997
Concert at Lion's Park
Date: Open at this time
Time: 1-10pm
Music (bands playing in the bandshell): 4-10pm
Various activities throughout the day to include some or all of the following:
skateboarding
• concessions
volleyball, etc.
water slide
bonfire
Fund Raising Efforts:
concession sales
t-shirt sales
The Elk River Skateboarders, Inc. have been contacted by Jackie from the
Chamber of Commerce to be involved in their 4th of July event. We are working
toward having this fund raising event as a part of the 4th of July celebration at
Orono Park. This would alter some of the activities planned but would allow
great marketing and the crowd would be there for other activities as well.
The plan outlined above is an alternate to being involved with the 4th of July
event. We have discussed this event with the Chief of Police. His concerns are
1 . Security and 2. "After dark" activities. We would need to schedule officers if
we have this event and either the organization would need to absorb this cost or
the City Council could approve covering the expense since this is not currently in
the budget. We feel the "after dark" activities would not be as big of an issue at
Lion's Park since there is additional lighting available near the hockey area and it
doesn't get completely dark until after 9:30pm.
