,,1 INFORMATION
CARGILL
• ANIMAL NUTRITION
CENTER
10383 165th Avenue NW
PO Box 301 April 9, 1997
Elk River, MN 55330-0301
Dana Anderson
Elk River Parks & Recreation Committee
PO Box 490
Elk River MN 55330
I ask that this letter be shared with the entire Elk River Parks &
Recreation Committee as well as other appropriate City
Officials/Committees.
On November 27, 1996, I confirmed by phone call and letter to
Police Chief Zerwas, that Cargill would no longer permit anyone
(including employees) to hunt on Cargill property. In that same
letter I asked that the "Hunting map", which is typically published in
the Elk River Star News be revised to include Cargill property as
"no hunting". On December 25, the Elk River Star News carried a
printed notice regarding our property being officially declared a no
• hunting zone.
With all that in place, we do have a concern about over population
of deer in years to come. I expressed this concern to Chief Zerwas
and he informed me that the committee was, or would be, working
on over-population control for other wooded, no hunting properties
in the City of Elk River. We, at the Cargill Animal Nutrition Center,
would like to be included in your over-population control
plan/program which, I would believe, will also be DNR approved.
Our property signs read: "No hunting or trespassing. Cargill
prohibits the possession of weapons on company property.
Violators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Cargill
Animal Nutrition Center."
As your plans progress, we would like to be kept advised and also
have an opportunity for input into those plans before decisions are
finalized. I can be reached at:'241-3366:_,
Thank you.
• , cerely,
ic4L1
Rita M. Sch
Operations Manager
