ELKRIVER 1 <br />ENERGYCITY <br />�� O SrRA7H�{G TIE POWER OF FFFICiFNT 6 <br />Elk River, Minnesota's Energy City <br />About Elk River Energy City <br />Energy City is a designation granted to the City of Elk River by the State of Minnesota in <br />2006. The City of Elk River acts as a hub for the demonstration of sustainable, energy <br />efficient building and manufacturing. An emphasis is placed on recycling, and reuse of <br />products and byproducts. As part of this designation, the City established an Energy City <br />Commission, including local environmentalists, businesses, utilities, and governmental <br />entities to identify solutions and communicate practices by demonstrating, promoting, and <br />educating the public on renewable energy and energy efficiency. <br />Major Energy- City Partners <br />Energy City has had a number of partners over <br />the years. (Minnesota <br />is second in the nation only to California for the number of energy related companies). <br />1995 MEI conducted a statewide search for a stand alone city to act as Energy Alley's <br />geographical focal point for demonstrating energy efficient and renewable energy <br />technology, services and products. <br />15 <br />
