P. A. SYSTEM: For announcing the races. The most popular basic set is •
the Realistic (Radio Shack) 20 Amp with microphone and at least 4 speakers.
( Amp & microphone - $100 Speakers - $40 each ) Of course, a more
2 professional system can be installed.
FENCING: 1) A spectator fence, between the track and the spectators.
Can be 4' chain link to something more decorative such as a split rail, or even
"homemade" such as PVC pipe as posts with nylon rope run through. Whatever
your preference, some sort of barrier needs to be erected. 2) A property fence,
around the facility. A 6' chain link is about all that will work for this. It only
needs to cover the area around the track and spectators, plus any building within
the facility (est. 300' x 500' ). You would not need it for your parking area.
3) Lots of our tracks exist in public parks with no fencing. It can, of course, help
with limiting your liability. Our insurance covers you either way. 4) Fencing
can be purchased either new or used. You might also consider rental fence. This
is used frequently at construction sites, etc. Fencing costs can also be offset by
selling signs at the track that would be mounted on the fence; much like what you
see at a baseball diamond. Prices for 4' x 8' ( or 4' x 4' ) signs can go from $200
- $500 a year, and should be renewable. As an incentive for someone to sell the
signs, a commission could be paid, 6' chain link runs about $2.50 a foot. •
9U00 ( $1600 - $4000 )
TRACK LIGHTING: You should have at least some type of night security
light, mounted on either a building or a pole. You might also want lights on th
gYdv • track for night racing. ( est. $3000 - $7000 )
BLEACHERS: Although not mandatory, they do help complete a BMX
facility. These can be aluminum or steel frame with wood seating. Two-to-ten sets
would be sufficient depending on the usual size of your crowds in attendance.
Each set seats about 50 people, and should not exceed 5 rows in height- this
,,;)1 0 v eliminates the need for railings ant stairways. ( est. $700 set )
RESTROOMS: Rental of 2 (men & women) port- a -johns or use on site
S restrooms. ( Check for monthly rental cost.
,st. 12,(0 0
%ss, 16, yov
.s.``'1- LL""' - C-0°L) h, ,,,#,w,
