4 <br /> <br /> SNOWMOBILES <br /> <br />Snowmobiling is allowed within the Elk River City limits provided that the <br />following rules are met. The rules are different if you are north of lg7th <br />Avenue than if you are south: <br /> <br />A. South of 197th Avenue: <br /> The operation of o snowmobile south of 197th Avenue is permitted: <br /> <br /> 1. On designated and marked snowmobile trails during periods when <br /> trails are open, <br /> 2, On public streets on the most right hand portion of the <br /> roadway within the curb line or shoulder edge and only when such <br /> operation is necessary to gain access to or from designated <br /> trails, or areas, which, by Minnesota Statutes, m(~p be used by <br /> snowmobiles. Such operation shall occur only wlthln the hours of <br /> 7:01 a.m. and 12:00 midnight except for emergency purposesor <br /> except if the operator is returning to his residence at a speed <br /> not in excess of twenty (20) miles per hour <br /> 5. In the bottom or outside slope of o dltch of County Roads 12, 15, <br /> 50, or 55 or a state highway. <br /> 4. Over Lake Orona (when safely iced over), when legally accessed as <br /> defined in this ordinance. <br /> 5. Over the Elk River (when safely iced over), when legally accessed <br /> as defined in this ordinance. <br /> 5. On property you own. <br /> <br />B. North of 197th Avenue: <br /> %he operation of a snowmobile north of 197'6 Avenue is permitted: <br /> <br /> On designated sr'owmobile trails. <br /> 2. In the bottom or outside slope of a ditch of County Roods 1, 13, <br /> 21, 32 or 33 or a state highway <br /> 5. On agricultural land that you have been given permission from the <br /> landowner or occupant to ride. <br /> 4. On private property of another that you have been given <br /> permission from the landowner or occupant to ride. <br /> 5. On property you own. <br /> <br />In addition, anywhere within the corporate limits of the CTty of Elk River, <br />snowmobiles shall not be operated: <br /> <br /> 1. On public lands, including but not limited to; public parks, <br /> and structures <br /> plcygrounds, trails, sidewalks, paths, open spaces, scenic and <br /> historic sites, schools, golf courses, and other public buildings <br /> 2. Within one hundred (100) feet of any fisherman, fish house, <br /> shelter, pedestrian, skating rink, sliding area or in any other <br /> oreo where such operation would conflict with the use or endanger <br /> other persons or property. <br /> 3.
