Ko <br /> <br />XIo <br /> <br />Contract for Guidance to Mn/DOT on Multi-modal Transportation <br />Projects <br /> <br />In August and September of this year, Mn/DOT underwent a procurement for <br />professional services for a firm that would provide guidance to Mn/DOT on <br />multi-modal transportation projects. 'The scope of this contract includes FTA <br />New Starts projects, as well as highway, freight, and air service projects. The <br />firm will assist in guiding Mn/DOT through the New Starts processes; seeking <br />federal funding for transportation projects, including the reauthorization <br />process; and negotiating with railroads. <br /> <br />Three firms submitted proposals for this contract. The successful finn is <br />Holland & Knight LLP, whose team is lead by Jeffrey Boothe. <br /> <br />Next Steps <br /> <br />Value Engineering is the next major project milestone. <br /> <br />Final design is scheduled to begin in August 2002, depending on consent to <br />enter final design from the FTA. <br /> <br />Mn/DOT is also contemplating a contract with a systems/vehicle procurement <br />consultant to assist Mn/DOT with the vehicle acquisition process and with <br />overall system planning and integration.
