MEMORANDUM

TO: Patrick Klaers

FROM:

Stephen Rohlf, Building and Environmental Administrator

DATE: April 22, 2004 "~--

SUBJECT: Consider Increased Hours for Building Permit Technician Position

When the Building Permit Technicians were allowed to go a four day work week it was with
the understanding that they would be required to revert back to full time if needed· The
increased workload in the Department dictates that additional hours are needed in that
position.

I am recommending that at least one additional Building Permit Technician day per week is
added for the foreseeable future to ensure that those duties not detract from inspections
being conducted. Hopefully one additional day will suffice. If and when the workload
tapers off the position will be allowed to go back to a four day work week.

Lisa Wolfe has indicated that she is willing to go to full time. Due to the immediate need for
additional hours in this position I am recommending she be reinstated to f~l time starting
June 1, 2004. However, she did indicate that she may have some issues in June that will
require her to be out of the office and she has limited vacation time. If this situation does
come up I have indicated my willingness to allow her leave without pay.
