GENERAL CAPITAL AND OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE COSTS
The following table is a tool that the City can use to initially evaluate and budget for new improvements and quickly grasp the
general cost for new improvements. Equally important to the initial capital cost for a project are the ongoing operations and
maintenance (O &M) costs. Adequately budgeting operations and maintenance ensures that facilities last their expected life and
that parks remain safe and welcoming.
TABLE 6.6 GENERAL CAPITAL AND OPERATIONS & MAINTENANCE COSTS
IRK ELEMEN E CAPITAL C07S ANNUAL OW COST`IPTIMATE[ M1=
LI FE
New Park Development
Neighborhood Park
$90,000 /Acre
Community Park
$130,000 /Acre
Sports Park
$180,000 /Acre
General Grounds & Landscaping
Mowed Turf Grass
$60,000 /Acre New Sod
(Irrigated)
$34,000 /Acre New Seed
Mowed Turf Grass (Non
Irrigated)
Irrigation
Prairie Restoration
Naturalized Shoreline
Rain Garden
Woodland Restoration
Stormwater Features
$30,000 /Acre New Sod
$2,000 /Acre New Seed
$25,000 /Acre
$5,000 /Acre
$100 /LF
$10 /Sq.
