Begin with trailheads, parking lots, and high - <br />use commuter corridors. <br />Provide safe road crossings. <br />• Add on -road bike facilities to supplement the trail system where <br />opportunities allow. <br />• Extend fall, winter, and spring use of trails by plowing designated <br />winter routes and paved trails within parks. <br />• Improve safety in locations with dangerous conditions due to traffic <br />volumes, truck traffic, curves, topography, speed, or width. <br />• Develop trail loops in existing neighborhood and community parks. <br />3. Improve signage. <br />► Provide standardized wayfinding kiosks at trailheads <br />► Provide wayfinding signage; priorities include: <br />Connections to /from the Great Northern Trail. <br />Downtown area. <br />Link between Great Northern Trail and Main Street. <br />4. Create Connections to the Great Northern Trail. <br />Strategies: <br />Extend the Great Northern Trail to Main Street and the Mississippi <br />River. <br />► This may include on- and off-road bicycle facilities, including <br />improved safety measures for on -road bicycling on Main Street. <br />Connect the neighborhoods on the east side of Highway 169 to the <br />Great Northern Trail. <br />► Potential future crossings include 221 st Street (future road <br />extension). <br />► Future Road Connections through the mining area at 205th and <br />193rd. <br />Make connections to the Great Northern Trail from the west. <br />► Trails on 221st, Ranch Road, Meadowvale and 196th. <br />Consider grade- separated crossings, such as the one at 189th, when <br />connecting across significant barriers. <br />► Highway 169 <br />► Highway 10 <br />► Highway 101 <br />► Railroads <br />5.
