ELK RIVER IS FOR FAMILIES <br />Despite the growth in the over -55 population, <br />Elk River continues to be a desired destination <br />for raising a family. The largest age groups in Elk <br />River continue to be the 0-9,10-19,25-34 & 35- <br />44 year old age groups. While some people may <br />move on to other communities as they age, Elk <br />River is a place people want to be as they raise <br />children. <br />YOUTH <br />Children and youth continue to comprise a <br />significant portion of the total population in Elk <br />River. In 2010, over 30% of Elk River's residents <br />were pr younger Therefore, it is important to <br />increase access to parks and recreation facilities, <br />as well as engage youth in programming. <br />Engaging youth in physical activity improves <br />resiliency, teaches healthy habits, and develops <br />self - esteem.
