The project will also increase the facility's ability to meet mandated discharge limits. <br /> On October 6,2014, the MPCA issued the city a Notice to Proceed' and Rice Lake Construction broke <br /> ground on the 700-day project. <br /> Work will include construction of an extended aeration tank, conversion of the existing primary clarifiers <br /> to anaerobic tanks for biological phosphorus removal, removal of existing trickling filters, and <br /> construction of a new extended aeration activated sludge basin. <br /> Other construction work includes removal of the existing final clarifier sludge wet well, construction of a <br /> new sludge lift station and building, and the addition of chlorination and dechlorination equipment.
