Ms. Suzanne Fischer
January 15, 2014
Page 2
SURVEY RESULTS
Surveys of the stormwater ponds were performed to measure the water and sediment depth
within each basin to determine the percentage of lost storage volume due to sedimentation
acumination overtime. Please note estimated pond volumes did not have the benefit of as-built
grading plans to accurately determine the planned storage volumes for each pond. Storage
volumes were based on a treatment volume of a four foot depth within the pond.
The following table outlines the pond survey information, estimated volumes, and excavation
volumes:
Measured
Estimated Average Average Estimated Estimated Estimated Estimated
Pond Water Water Sediment Remaining Excavation
Pond Name Area Volume Depth Sediment Volume Volume Treatment Volume
(SgFtj (CuYd) (ft) Depth(ft) (CuYd) (CuYd) Volume (CuYd)
Orono Lake Fond(loam) 16117.2 23877 2.1 3.7 1253.6 2208.7 47.8% 11342
Highland/Jackson Pond 7405.2 1097.1 1 1.3 274.3 274.3 25% 822.8
McDonalds Hwy 169 Pond 19602 2904 0 4 3.8 2904.0 2904.0 75% NA
American Legion RR Pond 5662.8 838.9 0.3 1.1 62.9 62.9 7.5% 776.0
FINDINGS
Sediment Sampling Findings
• Orono Lake (Dam) Pond
• SRV values ranged from 0.6 to 2.2
• Sediment within the pond consisted of sand, organic soil, and vegetative debris
o Excavated sediment should be considered a SRV Level 2
o Soils with a SRV Level 2 is suitable for use on commercial or industrial land uses
• Highland and Jackson Pond
• SRV values ranged from 0.2 to 2.3
• Sediment within the pond consisted of sand and organic soil
o Excavated sediment should be considered a SRV Level 2
o Soils with a SRV Level 2 is suitable for use on commercial or industrial land uses
• McDonalds and Highway 169 Pond
• SRV values ranged from 11.0 to 53.7
• Sediment within the pond consisted of sand and organic soil
• Excavated sediment should be considered a SRV Level 3
• Soils with a SRV Level 3 or higher must be disposed of at an MPCA approved
landfill
K!V)19924K0ldnii.1D n 1)1992-06 T,,hM._jX n I d-ig--ft,0;0914 d-
