For other expenses, they are just under the prior year by less than 1 %: <br />• Maintenance Expense is increased 21% due to focus on maintenance of overhead <br />lines and meters. <br />Depreciation Expense is reduced as actual monthly expense is calculated in NISC <br />versus an annual estimate being distributed. <br />Other Operating Expense is reduced due to amortization of debt discount not <br />present in 2013. <br />Administrative & General Expense in increased 7% over the prior year. This <br />month is largely due to the NISC recognition of benefit insurance expenses and so <br />the comparison to the prior year is skewed - and it will be skewed the next month <br />also. Year -to -date this line is under budget by 9 %. <br />For August, the Electric Department has a Net Profit of $37,160 compared to the prior <br />year loss of ($12,459). Year -to -date we are at a net income of $698,403, which is ahead <br />of year -to -date budget of $379,787. <br />Water P &L <br />Water Operating Revenues for August are increased over last year, increased 6.5 %. Year - <br />to -date revenues are slightly ahead by 2% and better than year -to -date budgeted revenues <br />by 7.6 %. <br />Usage in August is up 2.6% overall: <br />• Residential use down .2% <br />• Commercial use up 11% <br />Other Revenues of $28,296 are down significantly from the prior year: <br />• Decreased Connection Fees of $16,580 August 2014, versus August 2013 <br />$77,434. <br />Total Revenues for August of $430,238 are behind the prior year by 7.8 %, however <br />increased over the year to date budget by 15 %. <br />Expenses are over the prior year by 1.7 %, however decreased from year -to -date budget <br />1.5 %. <br />• Administrative and General Expense is increased over the prior year for the same <br />reason as noted above in the Electric Department. <br />For August, the Water Department has a net profit of $216,658, which is slightly behind <br />last year's profit of $256,746. Year -to -date, the Water Department has a net loss of <br />($91,395) which is far ahead of year -to -date budgeted loss of ($320,376). <br />36 <br />
