We have worked with Gary Leirmoe, Chief Operator, and his staff in <br />preparing these documents. The project includes the replacement of the cover over the pdmary <br />digester, which is approximately 30 years old. In addition, since the digester will be opened and <br />emptied, the mixing system, which is of the same age, is planned to be replaced. We will also <br />inspect the internal piping and concrete structure and anticipate there will be some repair work <br />needed. The amount of work on the concrete structure will not be able to be quantified until the <br />structure is opened. In addition, we have determined that a safety rail should be installed around <br />the perimeter of the structure. The final piece of the project is a new coating on the outside of the <br />concrete structure that will seal cracks in the vessel. Because of the uncertainty of some of the <br />internal work that may be required once the structure is open, at this point we are only able to <br />provide a range of estimated construction cost. We are estimating construction cost in the range of <br />$650,000 to $725,000. <br /> <br />Attached is a resolution for the City Council's consideration, approving the construction plans and <br />authorizing the Advertisement for Bids. The bid date selected by staff is Apd113, 2004.
