Comment on Draft Comprehensive Plan <br /> The Commission discussed the follow issues with City of Elk <br /> River Planning Director, Michele McPherson: <br /> ➢ the "Old Town"designation and the fact that the plan emphasized <br /> redevelopment and does not discuss rehabilitation and reuse and <br /> ➢ the retention of the older housing stock to retain the character of the <br /> community and as affordable housing stock. <br /> Ms. McPherson indicated that she would address these issues with the consultant <br /> for the comprehensive plan and identify tools for rehabilitating older buildings. <br /> 7. Consider Conducting Oral Interviews in 2003 <br /> Due to their workload, the Commission decided to post pone discussion on oral <br /> interviews for the near future. <br /> 8. Discuss Literature Search and Archaeological Modeling Grant <br /> The literature search and archeological modeling project was discussed. The <br /> Commission requested that Stephen Rohlf get in contact with Professor Guy <br /> Gibbon regarding this work. <br /> 9. Other Business <br /> The Annual Preservation Conference to be held in New Ulm in September was <br /> discussed. Commissioner Olson also questioned whether or not HPC meetings <br /> could cease in the summer months. It was decided that HPC meetings had to be <br /> scheduled every month. <br /> 10. Discuss Items to be on the July 10th Agenda. <br /> The Commission decided that the particulars of archaeology project will be <br /> discussed at their next meeting. <br /> 11. Adjournment <br /> There being no further business, the meeting of the Elk River HPC was adjourned <br /> at 8:00 p.m. <br /> • <br />
