6. Consider City of Elk River's Status as a Certified Local Government(CLG) <br /> Mr. Rohlf noted that a resume from one more commissioner and a cover letter <br /> from the Mayor is all that is needed for the city's CLG application to be complete. <br /> 7. Discuss HPC Issues Concerning the Historic Downtown Area of Elk River with <br /> Representatives of the Rivers Edge Group <br /> Cliff Lundberg was at the meeting representing the Rivers Edge Group. Mr. <br /> Lundberg expressed his group's desire to have a common historic theme in the <br /> downtown area. He suggested restoring the facade of the Old First National Bank <br /> building on the corner of Jackson Avenue and Main Street as a starting point. <br /> Kurt Kragness will contact Charles Nelson, historic architect, to see if he will give <br /> a rough estimate for the renovation. Bruce Penner will research grant <br /> opportunities for this work. It was decided that this issue be placed on next <br /> month's agenda. <br /> 8. Discussion on Operation E.R. <br /> Stephen Rohlf and Jim Nord informed the group about what took place at the last <br /> meeting of Operation E.R. <br /> 9. Prepare Inventory Map of Historic Sites and Structures in Elk River <br /> • Due to a lack of time, this issue was tabled indefinitely. <br /> 10. Discuss Items to be on the November 9th HPC Agenda <br /> It was the consensus of the group that the following issues be on the December <br /> HPC agenda: City of Elk River's CLG status, Arrow Building Center's proposal, <br /> discussion with the Rivers Edge group regarding renovation in the Downtown <br /> area, and prioritizing the HPC time. <br /> 11. Other Business <br /> Bud Houlton agreed with having the HPC tour at the Houlton Farm on Saturday, <br /> October 21, starting at 10:00 a.m. <br /> 12. There being no further business, the meeting of the Elk River HPC was adjourned <br /> at 8:27 p.m. <br /> • <br />
