To Item Number Mayor and City Council 4.8 Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by Consent September 15, 2014 Justin Femrite, P.E., City Engineer Item Description Reviewed by Corridor of Commerce Solicitation Cal Portner, City Administrator Reviewed by Action Requested Direct,by motion, staff to submit the projects listed below for consideration of funding by MnDOT through their current Corridor of Commerce solicitation. Background/Discussion Attached is a solicitation from the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) for funding opportunities through their Corridors of Commerce program. MnDOT is seeking input from stakeholders throughout the state as to what should be funded by this program. The primary intent to this solicitation is to fund right-of-way acquisition,preliminary engineering, and environmental studies in order to better position these projects should future funding become available. Staff has reviewed the request and recommends the following be submitted for consideration by the state: 1) Complete preliminary design work for interchange improvements at TH 10/169/101 to add ramps and eliminate existing stop light on TH 101. 2) Complete preliminary design work and right-of-way acquisition for a future frontage road and interchange on TH 10/169 at a future extension of Twin Lakes Road (south of 167`''Avenue). 3) Design and construction of adaptive signal controls on existing signalized intersections on TH 10 and TH 169 in Elk River. The three projects recommended are intended to improve mobility on the Trunk Highway corridors through Elk River.
