City of <br /> Elk - Request for Action <br /> River O. <br /> To Item Number <br /> Mayor and City Council 4.8 <br /> Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br /> Consent September 15, 2014 Justin Femrite, P.E., City Engineer <br /> Item Description Reviewed by <br /> Corridor of Commerce Solicitation Cal Portner, City Administrator <br /> Reviewed by <br /> Action Requested <br /> Direct,by motion, staff to submit the projects listed below for consideration of funding by MnDOT <br /> through their current Corridor of Commerce solicitation. <br /> Background/Discussion <br /> Attached is a solicitation from the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) for funding <br /> opportunities through their Corridors of Commerce program. <br /> MnDOT is seeking input from stakeholders throughout the state as to what should be funded by this <br /> program. The primary intent to this solicitation is to fund right-of-way acquisition,preliminary <br /> engineering, and environmental studies in order to better position these projects should future funding <br /> become available. <br /> Staff has reviewed the request and recommends the following be submitted for consideration by the state: <br /> 1) Complete preliminary design work for interchange improvements at TH 10/169/101 to add ramps <br /> and eliminate existing stop light on TH 101. <br /> 2) Complete preliminary design work and right-of-way acquisition for a future frontage road and <br /> interchange on TH 10/169 at a future extension of Twin Lakes Road (south of 167`''Avenue). <br /> 3) Design and construction of adaptive signal controls on existing signalized intersections on TH 10 and <br /> TH 169 in Elk River. <br /> The three projects recommended are intended to improve mobility on the Trunk Highway corridors <br /> through Elk River.
