<br /> Dear Mr. Femrite:
<br /> As you are aware, construction bids for the above referenced project were opened at 11:00 a.m. on August 26,
<br /> 2014 at the Elk River City Hall. A total of 11 bids were received and opened. The engineer's estimate for this
<br /> project was$1,380,000. The following is a summary of the bids:
<br /> LaTour Construction, Inc. $1,311,227.89
<br /> North Pine Aggregate, Inc. $1,330,082.89
<br /> Northwest Asphalt, Inc. $1,340,810.32
<br /> R. L. Larson Excavating, Inc. $1,364,164.55
<br /> Redstone Construction, Inc. $1,422,883.69
<br /> Burschville Construction, Inc. $1,428,444.82
<br /> Northdale Construction Company, Inc. $1,434,745.70
<br /> Douglas-Kerr Underground, L.L.C. $1,444,963.23
<br /> Kuechle Underground, Inc. $1,464,938.67
<br /> Eureka Construction, Inc. $1,684,194.95
<br /> Veit& Company, Inc. $1,777,205.65
<br /> LaTour Construction, Inc. of Maple Plain, Minnesota was the low bidder at $1,311,227.89. LaTour
<br /> Construction, Inc. routinely constructs projects similar to the Natures Edge Business Center. A detailed
<br /> tabulation of the bids and LaTour's proposed suppliers and subcontractors are attached for your review.
<br /> This project was originally bid on July 15, 2014. A total of six bids were received and the low bid was
<br /> Northwest Asphalt, Inc. at$1,445,592.94. At the time the bids were opened the US Corp Wetland permit had
<br /> still not been received. For this reason and to promote additional interest in the project, all bids were rejected
<br /> and the completion date was moved to June 15,2015.
<br /> In summary the rebid resulted in 5 additional bidders and a reduction of$134,365.05 in the construction bid.
<br /> We recommend that the Natures Edge Business Center Phase 2 Improvements be awarded to LaTour
<br /> Construction, Inc. in the amount of$1,311,227.89.
