QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS <br /> • <br /> • Whether or not to have a BMX site open to the public or for members only. <br /> It must be members only, if we are to obtain insurance coverage from ABA. <br /> • Whether or not to have special days open to the public for training, demonstrations and <br /> supervision. <br /> The bike park will encourage families to try out the track while incorporating safety <br /> instruction with no fee involved The police department would also get involved with <br /> periodic bike safety clinics. <br /> *Liability issues <br /> The ABA offers complete $1 million liability coverage 24 hours a day, 365 days a year <br /> for the track operator and land owner. (See addendum to this letter) <br /> *Parking <br /> 40 to 60 cars for small events and 275 cars for large events. Hillside City park can <br /> hold approximately 100 cars plus 80 near County road 12. <br /> *Fencing <br /> Two fences are recommended The first would serve as a security barrier around the <br /> perimeter of the property, keeping riders and other people off the track during <br /> unsupervised periods. This is a key element to preventing any type of liability. It also • <br /> helps reduce unnecessary maintenance and vandalism on the track facility. The other <br /> fence is utilized as spectator control fence. It should not be more than four feet tall <br /> and should be designed to keep spectators off of the track and infield We do not need <br /> it for the parking area. Lots of tracks exist in public parks with no fencing. It can, <br /> help with limiting our liability, but ABA will cover us either way. <br /> *Safety Concerns <br /> Helmets are required Bikes have to be regulation to be on the BMX track. This is one <br /> of the least injury ridden sports, and we can get you data on this if you require it St <br /> Michael has had two injuries in two years that have required ambulances. We will <br /> need a telephone on site; and fire,police and ambulance accessibility. <br /> ♦Concessions <br /> A soft drink bottler will often put up small building in exchange for us selling their <br /> product Food items can be very successful, such as hot dogs, sandwiches, candy, <br /> chips etc. Some civic organizations might be willing to contract with us to operate a <br /> snack bar, with them doing the labor and the track receiving a percentage of the sales. <br /> The concession stand could be our best source of revenue at the track. <br /> • <br />
