The aiming of any dangerous weapon, whether loaded or not, at o- • toward any human being is hereby prohibited. 404.06 - SELLING OR FURNISHING A DANGEROUS WEAPON TO A M OR The selling, giving, loaning or furnishing in any w of a dangerous weapon to a minor under the age of eigh -en (18)years without the written consent of his parent or • - dian, or of a police officer or magistrate is hereby prohi• ited. 404.08 - HANDLING AND USE OF DANGEROUS `4• -ONS BY MINORS Minors under the age of sixteen (16 years and over twelve (12) years must have in their possessi ) while handling or using any firearm a valid firearms safet certificate. No minor under the age of fourteen (14) years s•=11 handle or use any dangerous weapon except while in the •resence of his parent or guardian. No minor under the age o eighteen (18) years shall handle or use any dangerous weapon - •cept while in the presence of his parent or guardian, or wit, the written consent of his parent or guardian or of a -olice officer or magistrate. 404.10 - EXC' TIONS: LAWFUL DEFENSE AND LAW ENFORCEMENT Nothing n this section shall be construed to prohibit the use or disch- ge of a dangerous weapon in the lawful defense of persons or • operty; or in the enforcement of the law by peace officers -. d other law enforcement personnel. 404.12 - HUNTING AND SHOOTING, PERMISSION BY LANDOWNER 1 . Hunting or shooting upon land within the City of Elk River may be conducted with the written permission of the landowner except as prohibited in this Section 404.12 and except that no permission shall be required for the owner of such land, or members of the owner' s immediate family or guest in the company of the owner of said land. 2 . The discharge or use of a dangerous weapon shall be prohibited in the following locations: A. Within one thousand (1, 000) feet of the ordinary high water mark of Lake Orono or the Elk River: B. Within five hundred (500) feet of any adjoining property, building or structure or the boundary of any platted area. This minimum 500 foot distance may be reduced to two hundred (200) feet at an organized gun club as • defined in Section 404.14 for the discharge of shotguns at a trap range from a currently existing permanent shooting pad directed away from the building or platted area.
