The aiming of any dangerous weapon, whether loaded or not, at o- <br /> • toward any human being is hereby prohibited. <br /> 404.06 - SELLING OR FURNISHING A DANGEROUS WEAPON TO A M OR <br /> The selling, giving, loaning or furnishing in any w of a <br /> dangerous weapon to a minor under the age of eigh -en (18)years <br /> without the written consent of his parent or • - dian, or of a <br /> police officer or magistrate is hereby prohi• ited. <br /> 404.08 - HANDLING AND USE OF DANGEROUS `4• -ONS BY MINORS <br /> Minors under the age of sixteen (16 years and over twelve (12) <br /> years must have in their possessi ) while handling or using any <br /> firearm a valid firearms safet certificate. No minor under the <br /> age of fourteen (14) years s•=11 handle or use any dangerous <br /> weapon except while in the •resence of his parent or guardian. <br /> No minor under the age o eighteen (18) years shall handle or use <br /> any dangerous weapon - •cept while in the presence of his parent <br /> or guardian, or wit, the written consent of his parent or <br /> guardian or of a -olice officer or magistrate. <br /> 404.10 - EXC' TIONS: LAWFUL DEFENSE AND LAW ENFORCEMENT <br /> Nothing n this section shall be construed to prohibit the use or <br /> disch- ge of a dangerous weapon in the lawful defense of persons <br /> or • operty; or in the enforcement of the law by peace officers <br /> -. d other law enforcement personnel. <br /> 404.12 - HUNTING AND SHOOTING, PERMISSION BY LANDOWNER <br /> 1 . Hunting or shooting upon land within the City of Elk River <br /> may be conducted with the written permission of the landowner <br /> except as prohibited in this Section 404.12 and except that no <br /> permission shall be required for the owner of such land, or <br /> members of the owner' s immediate family or guest in the company <br /> of the owner of said land. <br /> 2 . The discharge or use of a dangerous weapon shall be <br /> prohibited in the following locations: <br /> A. Within one thousand (1, 000) feet of the ordinary high <br /> water mark of Lake Orono or the Elk River: <br /> B. Within five hundred (500) feet of any adjoining <br /> property, building or structure or the boundary of any <br /> platted area. This minimum 500 foot distance may be reduced <br /> to two hundred (200) feet at an organized gun club as • <br /> defined in Section 404.14 for the discharge of shotguns at a <br /> trap range from a currently existing permanent shooting pad <br /> directed away from the building or platted area. <br /> C. On lands not zoned R-la, A-1, I-1 or I-2 except that the <br /> same shall likewise be prohibited on lands zoned I-1 or I-2 • <br /> 4.8 <br />
