W \4 Item #: 7. <br /> ity of <br /> ElkMEMORANDUM <br /> River <br /> TO: Park and Recreation Commission <br /> FROM: Michele McPherso , 'irector of Planning <br /> DATE: December 28, 1999 <br /> SUBJECT: Planning Retreat— Non-staff Agenda Items <br /> Request <br /> The Commission is asked to review policies/procedures for review of non-staff agenda <br /> items. <br /> Attachment <br /> • Application Form, Volunteer Projects <br /> • Submission Deadlines <br /> • Analysis <br /> In order to help the Commission review and evaluate volunteer projects, and perhaps <br /> solicit volunteers and projects from the community, staff proposes to implement a <br /> simple application process for volunteer projects. The application will ask the volunteer <br /> for basic information about the project including where, when, how long to finish, is any <br /> money from the Commission required, etc. (refer to attached application form). <br /> The information will then be forwarded to the Commission at the next available <br /> opportunity. Staff proposes a monthly deadline so that items can be presented in a <br /> timely manner for both the Commission and the volunteer. Volunteers will also be <br /> asked to present their project to the Commission verbally as is done now. The <br /> application will serve only as support material for the Commission. <br /> This application could be modified for community events in the parks. <br /> Recommendation <br /> Staff recommends that the Commission review the attached application form and <br /> calendar, make comments or suggestions, and endorse the procedure for volunteer <br /> projects/community events. <br /> 13065 Orono Parkway • P.O.
