GOPHER HOLE NEWS JUNE 2014 <br /> "RESEARCH, HUNT, FIND AND RECOVER, BUT LEAVE IT BETTER FOR ANOTHER" <br /> N were made as well as color considerations and body styles. Thank you, Steve for a very <br /> interesting and informative presentation! <br /> President Hank Drews calls for a break at 8:32 and the meeting is resumed at 8:54. <br /> A <br /> Steve Ketcham graciously donated an antique bottle for a club contest. Hank Drews <br /> presented the club with an "unknown" mystery object that he had unearthed recently. Every- <br /> one was asked to give their best guess as to what this object might be. The club then voted <br /> '14Sy on what they deemed to be the best guess. Chuck thought it was an electrical insulator and <br /> the club agreed. Nice guess Chuck, and thank you to Steve Ketcham for the prize. <br /> Vice President Dwayne Hatzenbeller conducted the May `Bring and Brag". Entries included <br /> finds discovered since our last meeting in April. <br /> The winners as well as the other entries for May were as follows: <br /> Most Coins: 680 coins ($35.64) found by Hank Drews. Also found were: 450 coins <br /> ($24.10), two others submitted (N/A, as tags not left behind on table) <br /> Most Unusual: "The Parker" Hotel (1903) name plate from Minneapolis, Kansas found <br /> by Joel Nease. Other entries included: butterfly button, wolf cub item, brass serial number <br /> plate from clamshell digger made between 1917 & 1931, keys that were lost 27 years, mis- <br /> spelled token (White "Baer" Lake), child's shoe buckle, split bolt, Frigidaire key tag, "JI Case" <br /> watch fob, carwash token, 10 Yen coin and a "Parry Buggy" carriage token. <br /> Best Jewelry: An engraved gold filled locket with picture found by Judy Clausen. Al- <br /> so submitted were: An old scarf clasp, silver colored locket, dollar sign, gold plated St. Chris- <br /> topher metal, two charms (heart w/opal &flower), 1986 World Series ring and a .925 preg- <br /> nancy ring. <br /> Best Silver Jewelry: A silver ring with a cross on it found by Chuck Clausen. Also <br /> found: A .925 men's size 11 ring & a 1975 Vatican pendant. <br /> (0 Best Gold Jewelry: A 14K gold bracelet found by Jill Weimer. Also submitted: N/A <br /> Best Coin: 1876 Seated quarter found by Jerry Loose. Other entries included: 1903-S <br /> Barber half dollar, 1946-D Walking Liberty half dollar, 1856 Seated dime, 1905 Barber dime, <br /> CT 1905 Barber dime, 1936 Mercury dime, 1847 large cent, 1901 Indian cent, 1905 Indian cent <br /> & 1915 Canadian dime. <br /> Best Toy: Very old school bus found by James Wedo. Also found: silver car made in <br /> Hong Kong, cat's eye orbit bike light, military man, Model "B" Tootsie Toy1950's bubble gum <br /> EE machine ringyellow car from Disney "Cars" movie, hand grenade & dart tip. <br /> Outside 5-state area: A 1924 Mercury dime found by Hank Drews. Others found: N/A <br /> The subject of a club garage sale was introduced. Typically this has been held during <br /> March's meeting, but failed to occur earlier this year.
